Affirmations
If you only do this one thing... your life will change.
Whatever is going on in your life, you have been directly or indirectly expecting it. Notice in your quiet moments what you are thinking about. Affirmations are self-statements that we make in our minds all the time. We describe ourselves and our lives and everybody in them in our thoughts. Knowing this, begin to see yourself as the author and creator of your experience. Write down all the things you hope for and wish to achieve. Select the most important ones. Anything goes here. Money, health, love, peace... Then write a statement in this manner.... I, (your name), have full understanding of truth and life and now experience (fill in the blank here with what you want to experience). I'll give you an example of an affirmation for myself.
EXAMPLE: "I, Carol, now live my life fully in the moment, loving, understanding and appreciating all things that surround me. I communicate beautifully with everyone. All that I require for abundance of spirit and finances is mine. My mind, body and spirit are all in harmony and expressing great satisfaction and joy."

Creative
Visualization by Shakti Gawain - This book can change your
life! A wonderful how-to on affirmations. "Money comes to me in
avalanches" is a great example of how she shows you the words that can
create abundance.
Affirmations are choices and conscious choices bring you into full force of who you were meant to be. Once you have written your affirmation, keep it with you and say if often.
Mantras
Mantras are another way of repeating messages and information that produces changes in yourself for the better.
Om Namah Shivaya
Sages declare that this mantra is life, that this mantra is action, this mantra is love and that the repetition of mantra bursts forth wisdom from within. Go ahead and try saying this whenever you wish to be focused on the divine. The sensation speaks for itself.
A very rough, non-literal translation could be something like, 'Om and salutations to that which I am capable of becoming.' This mantra will start one out on the path of subtle development of spiritual attainments.
The five elements, too, are embodied in this ancient formula for invocation. Na is earth, Ma is water, Shi is fire, Va is air, and Ya are ether, or
akasha.
Many are its meanings. AUM Namah Shivaaya has such power. AUM Namah Shivaaya quells the instinct, cuts through the steel bands and turns this intellect within and on itself, to face itself and see its
limitations. AUM Namah Shivaaya is our souls, our bodies and possessions.
Nature Earth Air Fire Water
Earth: Everyone was greatly amused when the "Pet Rock" phenomenon was a great success. How silly it seemed for people to be purchasing rocks... plain ole ordinary rocks. And yet, they did purchase them. Who, as a little child, has not saved rocks and looked for a special one to keep? We are creatures of this earth. As such, we are at home with the elements of the earth. As you go for walks and hikes, make bringing home a rock one of your goals. As you do so, put them in a basket or some place where you can see and enjoy them.
Air: Likewise gathering feathers makes you feel in touch with the wonderful two-leggeds - the birds. The air that the feathers have flown through is in your hands. This can affect your dreams and awaken powerful information that you already have within yourself that is deeply buried.
Fire: Always light candles for decision- making. Let the fire be a symbol of the great depths of the earth and the surface of the sun. It is transformation right before your eyes.
Water: Water is the great conductor for this planet. Sounds, colors, life, rivers, waterfalls, oceans, all these things are given to you when you place a fountain in your home. When you draw a glass of water or purchase a bottle to drink, pause and reflect on the scene from which this water came. See the trees, the sunlight, the energy and beauty... even the water that comes from a well has beauty in its droplets.
The point here is awareness of the extraordinary gifts that are all around you. Many are in search of God and meaning and spirituality. Search no more. It's right there for you to see by your feet or in the sky above you.
